Almost 40,000 people attended to watch twelve countries battled for the world title at the Greater Vernon Multiplex. Representing the host country was Jennifer Jones’ team from Winnipeg Manitoba, who beat China 7-4 for the gold. The team was ecstatic with what was the first world title for all four team members. It was the 15th World Women’s Championship for Canada however it was the third won on Canadian soil.

Extensive international television coverage for the Ford Women’s Curling Championship was carried by TSN and CBC-TV as well as CurlTV and WCTV, the television arm of the World Curling Federation for channels outside of Canada.
